01What it is
DVTL (DVT-Lite) is a simplified approach to distributed validator technology for Ethereum staking. Rather than splitting a validator key across independent operators, it runs the same key across several machines that discover each other automatically and coordinate through threshold signing.
The aim is to shorten the distance between holding ETH and running resilient, fault-tolerant validator infrastructure, and so support the practical decentralization of Ethereum’s validator set.
- One key, several machinesThe same validator key runs on more than one machine instead of being split between operators.
- Auto-discoveryThe machines find each other without manual wiring.
- Threshold signingThey coordinate through threshold signatures, so one failure doesn’t stop the validator.
- Close to one clickIt trades some of full DVT’s operator independence for a much simpler setup.
