GI Lexicon

Words get co-opted. A term like "ownership" or "freedom" can keep its letters while quietly coming to mean the opposite of what it once meant — and once that happens, anyone can invoke the word to justify undermining the thing it used to protect. The GI Lexicon exists to stop that from happening to the language this movement depends on.

For five key terms — development, freedom, ownership, inheritance, and access — the Lexicon writes down two definitions side by side: the liberating sense, which is the one Generational Infrastructure builds toward, and the capturing sense, a co-opted meaning that sounds similar but actually describes dependency, revocability, or control by someone else. Naming the capturing sense in advance makes it recognizable if it shows up later dressed as the real thing.

It's best understood as a checksum for language. A code checksum verifies that a file hasn't been silently altered; the GI Lexicon does the same for meaning — a fixed reference that anyone, including people far in the future, can check a claim or a policy against to see whether it still holds the liberating definition, or whether the word has been quietly swapped for its capturing twin.
